Reading

The kekeno group have been busy reading to learn new facts about kangaroos. They presented their new learning in a fact cube. We think they have shown our school value of excellence when they have made these because they presented them beautifully! Well done Kekeno group! Come into Room 3 to read their fact cubes...

This clever reader is reading a book called Watch Me. It is about tadpoles changing he decided it might be a nice idea to read it to our class tadpoles! I'm sure they enjoyed it! Hopefully it encourage them to change into frogs!!!

Multiplication Madness

These clever kids were making up word problems to fit with the number sentences they were given. They challenged a partner to draw a picture to match their word problem and then solve the problem by skip counting.

Can you draw pictures to match these word problems?

There are 6 rivers and each river has 5 stones in it. How many altogether?

I had 7 rugby balls and each rugby ball had 2 designs on it. How many designs are on the rugby balls altogether?

I have 6 soccer balls and each ball has 2 spots. How many spots are there altogether?

To change or not to change?

Just like many adults around NZ we were able to put forward our votes and share our opinion on the flag. We had lots of ideas about why the flag should be changed and lots of ideas about why it shouldn't be changed too!

Poetry

Here are our awesome illustrators of the week. Today we learned about Magic E words. We know that when we are spelling and hear a vowel saying its name we need to put a magic e (silent e) on the end of the word!

Ronald McDonald's Adventure to Gore Main School

Today Ronald McDonald came to Gore Main School to teach us about Road Safety.
We learned:

  • To stop, look and listen before we cross the road
  • We must check for cars in all directions before we cross
  • We must watch out for sneaky driveways (a driveway that is blocked by bushes and fences)
  • Only cross when the road patrol people say "cross now!"
  • We must always walk sensibly on the house side of the footpath, not the road side
We liked Ronald because he was funny and played tricks on us.
