Enviro Garden Produce
Yesterday everyone in the school was lucky enough to get to have a taste of the enviro group's potatoes that were grown in the garden at school. The potatoes were cut into chips and cooked on the BBQ for everyone to enjoy! Yum!!

Froggy's Adventure into the Big Wide World
Today we went to Bannerman Park to release Froggy. We decided it was time to release Froggy so he could live his life in the wild. We noticed this morning he had turned a lovely green colour and he looked ready to go! We all walked up to Bannerman Park as a class and found what we think will be the perfect spot for Froggy to live. He is only little so we made sure the water wasn't too deep for him and that there were lots of plants for him to live in. Check out the video of Froggy's release below!
On the way we stopped off to look at the deer. One of the stags had huge antlers! Can you spot him in the photo?

Daniel's Stick Insect
Look what Daniel found in the weekend! Can you spot it? It is well camouflaged! We decided this was so predators can't find it!
A Morning Surprise
We were all so excited to discover this morning that froggy had lost his tail over the weekend! He no longer looks like a tadpole at all!
Cultural Festival
Today at Mataura School we were part of the Gore and Districts Cultural Festival. We sung 3 songs with other schools and performed our own song Whakarongo on stage.
Here we are performing....
We got to watch Jenny Mitchell performing and all of the other schools performing their items too! We had so much fun and survived the super hot day by wearing our sun hats, wearing sun block and drinking lots of water!

Waimumu Rugby Match
A lot of children in Room 3 were lucky enough to get to go to the Highlanders vs Crusaders game at Waimumu as part of the Southern Field Days. Will was lucky enough to get lots of the players signatures on his rugby ball! Lucky boy!
Jelly Bean Maths
On Friday we were challenged to create our own tally chart and bar graph all by ourselves (without help from Miss McKenzie) to show which jelly bean colour was most common in our own wee pile of jelly beans! We even got to eat them after wards!!
Amazing Award Winners
Congratuations to these fantastic Room 3 children who have won the shooting star and values awards in assembly on Friday.
Our value this term is EXCELLENCE....How are you showing excellence?
Athletics Practise
We have been busy practising for athletics. Here are shots of some of us in action practising shot put and long jump. We will be practising athletics each Wednesday afternoon.
Maths: Statistics
We are getting pretty clever at making and reading bar graphs. This week we were challenged to collect our own data and record this using tally marks and then create a class strip graph. Miss McKenzie wanted to know which car colour was most common we sat at the school and recorded the colours of cars that went past. Next we made the strip graph. It was huge!!

Self Portraits
We have worked really hard on making our self portraits look as much like us as possible! We looked closely in mirrors at the shapes and colours that make up our faces.
